AltIMU-10 Repair

I think I may have damaged my AltIMU-10. The part circled in the attached picture has a bulge on it about the size of a pencil tip and and gets hot when the device is connected to power. The chip still seems to work (I can still read accurate values from it), but I don’t feel good about using it in its current condition.

Does anyone know what that little piece is and what purpose it serves? Would it be possible to replace it myself provided my soldering skills are adequate?

Thanks!

Hello.

The part you have circled in the picture is the 3.3V LDO regulator. You can probably replace it with a standard 3.3V LDO regulator if you are able to do surface mount rework. Alternatively, you could try removing it and supplying 3.3V to the Vdd pin.
