7.5V Step-Up Regulator U3V70F7, 1v VIN over VOUT

Hello:
I have a system with two li-on batteries and work without problems for 6-8.4v.
But i need to add a board that fail below 7v, so i am looking for options:
U3V70F7 step-up and U3V70A adjustable regulator are nice, and i don´t need more than 4 or 5A max, but there is warning to not use in them VIN that exceed VOUT. All my components can perfectly work at 12v, … but the question is: the U3V70F7 can be damaged for the difference when VIN from battery is 8.4 and the VOUT is at 7.5v?
Thanks.

Hello.

As indicated by the step-up regulator product pages, supplying an input voltage that is higher than the output voltage could damage this kind of regulator, so we do not recommend that. Typically, the best solution for this type of problem would be to use a step-up/step-down regulator, but we do not have any that meet your power requirements, so the implementation would be a little more complex or limited. However, since your load can handle higher voltages, it seems like you could use one of the higher voltage regulators from the same U3V70Fx family, such as the 9V version (U3V50F9) (which I would recommend here since it should be more efficient then boosting to 12V).

Thanks Patrick, this is a posible solution.
