3pi+ 2040 Robot not powering on

I have the 3pi+ 2040 and checked VSW, VM, 3V3 with the black probe on GND for each while I pressed the soft power button to turn on. They are all 0. Also checked vbat and it goes to ~200mv then 0 when I press the soft power button.

Hello.

I moved your post to its own thread to track your issues in a more organized way.

Has the robot ever worked as expected for you? What is the voltage of your batteries (i.e. at VBAT) before you power on the robot? Could you post some pictures of it that include some close-up pictures of the battery contacts soldering on the board?

Hello Sir.

I started this project with my son and this is the first time we have built the 3p+. Batteries are new fully charged. We have not been able to turn it on. In fact, seems like there is no power to it.

Thank you for the help,
Joseph

Thank you for the pictures. I suspect the soldering on the battery contacts are not making a good connection with the board (especially the negative terminal at the top of your pictures). Could you try removing the skirt piece and reflowing the solder on those joints? The VBAT pin near the BAT+ contact is directly connected to the batteries, so you can measure the voltage between the VBAT and GND pins to see if the battery voltage is successfully getting to the board.

Reflowed the solder. I also checked the batteries again after re-soldering and one was very low. Replaced it as well and the system powers up. Now one of the wheels is stuck. It has not been able to rotate the whole time and I thought maybe when the system gets power it would work. The other wheel works OK.

Could you email us with your order information and a reference to this forum post?

We test every motor, so it was probably working fine at some point. However, it might be possible that too much heat was applied when soldering to the terminals, which can damage the brushes.
