what is the transient response time for D42V110F6 for the load going from 50ma to 5A? – related how much capacitance is already on the output? – any issue with adding a large capacitance on the output?
The transient response will depend on the exact factors of your load, connections, input voltage, etc, but the D42V110F6 already has over 1000uF of capacitance on its output, so it generally handles transients well. Here is what it looked like when switching from 50mA to 5A with a programable load with 12" leads at 12V and 24V in.
In our previous testing these regulators were fine with several hundred microfarads of external capacitance.
