Question regarding CHR-6dm AHRS

For a group project for my school, we intend to build a stabilized rocket and wanted to use the CHR-6dm AHRS. However, reading through the datasheet states that the accelerometer can only hand ± 3g. Ours may pull up to 8g’s, possibly 10 on launch.

I know that the accelerometer is used in conjunction with the gyro’s to correct for gyro drift, but if the acceleration exceeds the accelerometer’s rating, what will happen? Will the gyro’s continue to correct until acceleration returns to <3g or will it cause an error and we lose heading?

Hello.

Unfortunately, your question is beyond the level of support we can provide for this product. I suggest you try contacting the manufacturer of the board, CH Robotics, directly.
