LED Ring Control using the Orangutan SVP-1284 Robot Controll

I would like to buy the Orangutan SVP-1284 Robot Controller (2 of them), however, before I do I need to know if someone can help with the following problem: I need to use one of these controllers to control one motor and in addition turn ON and OFF an array of LED’s at a frequency of 60 Hz. The same signal will be used to control a camera which is supposed to take a picture only when the LEDs are ON.

Can this be done? Does anyone have a reference design of an array of LED’s which is ready to be connected directly to the Orangutan? The preferred color of the LED is white but any design will help.

Thanks for the help

Hello,

You could definitely use one of the Orangutan’s motor channels to drive an LED array, but since the number of LEDs you can power and your choice of a current-limiting resistor are dependent on the Orangutan’s VIN and the type of LEDs you are using, you would have to design an appropriate circuit yourself. You might find this blog post useful for helping you design your own LED array circuit.

Kevin,

Thanks for the reply, I intend to give it a shot.
