I need to communicate with my Serial 8-Servo controller via SoftwareSerial using an Arduino Mega but the CwPololuSerialServo library will not allow me to specify a software serial interface. Is there an easy modification to the library or setup in the arduino to enable this activity?

Is this the CwPololuSerialServo library you are referring to? If so, that library was not created by Pololu; you might try asking the author for advice. I do not think the required modification will be that difficult. If you try to modify the program and get stuck, we might be able to give you some pointers.
