Dual MC33926 and 29:1 Gearmotor - Safe to use?

I would like to know if it is safe to use these two together.

and

2x 29:1 Metal Gearmotor 37Dx52L mm

The specifications of the motor say Stall current @ 12V: 5000 mA, and the Driver can handle up to 5000 mA for a few seconds.

I know that based on the specifications the driver can handle, but, they are to close.

Do you guys think it is a problem? Should I drive the motors at a lower tension, like 10V or so?

Thanks!

Cheers!

Hi.

It should be fine as long as you do not use them in an application where the motors stall a lot or you quickly transition from full-speed forward to full-speed reverse a lot. The MC33926 is a robust chip that should work fine with these motors.

Ryan, thank you for your reply.

My question now is, I’m going to use then in a balancing robot. So, multiple transitions from forward to reverse are a given. But, since the reverses in the motion are just to balance the robot, and not to run, break and reverse, I do not think it would be a problem.

But, I could be wrong, I have no experience with motor drivers and DC motors.

What do you think?

How hard you are on the system will depend on how well you control it. I think it should be okay.
