Addressing 2 Maestro boards concurrently

I want to use two Maestro 24s concurrently. Separate COM ports will be assigned to each automatically, but I can’t find any way to query each Maestro to determine which one has been assigned which COM port. Usually there is an API to query some unique identifier on a device.

Does such an API exist, where is it documented?

If not, is there another way to determine from the C program which Maestro is addressed by
which COM port?
