I recently purchased an A4983 Stepper Motor Driver Carrier and wired it up per instructions on the product page for full step mode but the driver is stuck in 1/2 step mode. I then tied all the MS pins to VCC ground and it still only in 1/2 step mode. I have actually bought a few of these in the past and I am using the exact same motors and configuration and was easily able put those into full step mode.
Could this board be bad? Has anyone a clue why it would do this? It doesn’t make sense to me because I would guess if the chip was to fail it would fail in full step mode? It was never mishandled, current was always very low and it never overheated and It seems to be doing fine in 1/2 step mode, running smooth and never missing a step. Checked the soldering and all seems perfect.
Any ideas what is going on?
