Encoder Wheels on the 3Pi

Postby MarkyMark on Wed Jun 16, 2010 7:07 am

Hi,

Was looking to get a couple of the http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1090/pictures and http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1217 so I could implement a PID alg to get the bot to drive in a straigh line.

Quickie questions:
1) Can I fit these to the 3Pi - I'm also using the expansion board.
2) Are there enough avaliable IO ports to do this? - I can drop the line sensor

Cheers

Hello.

Those units are not at all compatible with the 3pi, which also does not have the I/O available on the ATmega328 to support encoders. Unfortunately, we do not know of a simple encoder solution for the 3pi.
