37D Gearmotor Voltage

Greetings!

I am building a project in which it would be advantageous to operate two 37D gearmotors at 14.4v instead of 12v. Is this advisable? I can bring the voltage down to 12 if necessary, but the higher voltage would ease the design for me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello.

Running a motor at a higher voltage trades performance for the life of the motor. However, I don’t expect it to cause any issues at that voltage.

By the way, if you are using a motor driver, you can effectively limit the voltage to the motors by limiting the duty cycle.

Thank you!

I will be operating one motor with a Jrk 21v3 and the other with a 24v12 Simple Controller and I honestly did not think of limiting them via the software. Great idea

Your help is appreciated!
