25D motor connector current rating

Hello,

I just purchased a couple of 25D HP gear motors with encoders. I was just wondering about the current rating of the leads/connectors that comes with the motors. The motors can draw 6A at 6V stall (and more under some circumstances I guess). This seems a bit steep for a standard 0.1" female header connector. What’s the experience with this? Am I fine using this connector under “normal” conditions, or should I at least separate the motor leads and connect these directly to the driver screw term. blocks?
Comments and suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks

BR,
Lars

Hello, Lars.

In general, these motors are not designed to be stalled for an extended period of time. In some sense, it might be better to have the power supply wire melt first.
